About

The Groundwater Focus

Groundwater is getting increased attention right now as compared to a decade ago. Unlike surface water that mostly requires treatment before use, groundwater often meets drinking water quality unless otherwise contaminated. Groundwater contamination hinders the effective utilization of this resource. The Groundwater Focus aims to provide up-to-date developments accurately in the groundwater sector in Kenya, Sub-Saharan Africa, and around the world.

Many efforts are currently put in place to ensure that the groundwater resources in Africa are utilized, protected, and managed effectively for its sustainability. To achieve this, the groundwater community (experts, water services providers, and water users) need a voice to advance advocacy in the groundwater sector. For this reason, this blog is dedicated to providing relevant information that would enhance your knowledge in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The groundwater in this region is highly varied from its quality, occurrence, use as well as pollution. Besides, the groundwater water users have limited access to critical information regarding resource exploitation due to a lack of expert knowledge.
